(Started it the exact same way lol lets see what happens this time)
It was a busy day in central, everyone seemed to be rushing to get somewhere, but then in such a large place, most people always were. Some cars zoomed around at dangerous speeds, people were running here and there, didn’t anyone ever have time to relax in central? It always seemed like everyone was on edge, and Alphonse had noticed that whenever his brother was in central, he too seemed to be just as agitated as the locals. Al sighed as he walked slowly alongside his brother, his head moving from one side of the road to the other occasionally, watching everything that was going on. It was funny, although he had no real eyes, or ears for that matter, he could still see and hear things as clearly as he ever could when he was fully human.
He didn’t really understand it himself, true his soul was attached to a suit of armour, and logically he shouldn’t have been able to see or hear anything, but he could, and whilst it sometimes caused him to wonder, he was glad that he had regained at least some of his senses. His head creaked slightly as he lowered it to look at Ed, he seemed thoughtful, and why not? They weren’t really any closer to finding the Philosopher’s stone, and he knew how much that bothered Ed, he wanted nothing more than to return Al to his real body, pretty much the same as Al wanted to fix Ed’s limbs before he regained his body. The two were very close, and although like most brothers they had the odd fight here and there, for the most part, they enjoyed being in each others company.
Suddenly Al stopped, letting Ed walk past him some before he turned around facing the alleyway beside him, he could hear faint mewing, and something he could not ignore, was an animal in distress. His body clanking as he moved into the alleyway, Al looked around for the creature that was making the sound, he’d always been this way, wanting to help animals, it was just his nature really, he was a very gentle boy, something people didn’t really associate with someone in armour. “Meow” the sound was louder, and it was echoing now, turning to the side, Al noticed a garbage can with its lid slightly askew. Walking over slowly, he gripped the handle and removed the lid, peering down on a small helpless kitten, it had obviously fallen in. Without a second though Al reached inside the garbage can and scooped the kitten up, cradling it in his arms as he stroked it gently.
Al continued to stroke the kitten, if his face could have shown emotion then he would have been smiling, but of course he didn’t really have the ability to do that. He didn’t have a mouth, frankly he didn’t have anything, but he was at least grateful for what he did have, even if his body did not allow him to feel anything. The kitten purred lightly and nuzzled his hand, which made Al laugh a little, it must have been pretty scary stuck inside the garbage can, but at least it was safe now...but how could it get it past Ed? He could always hide it in his body, but Ed would probably see through that, after all, it was something he had done before. Whilst his brother was a caring person, even if sometimes he was a little harsh, he knew that he wouldn’t let him keep it, he’d always say that they didn’t have the time for a pet, let alone the means to keep one. He did understand, truly, but what was wrong with wanting a pet to fuss over? It wasn’t as though the kitten was going to take up much space.
